This work represents MADE 514’s interpretation of the concept, CHANGE THROUGH INNOVATION. The work takes its form from the mix of evocative words placed around the site used as his canvass. The work extends across two adjacent walls, at 90º which symbolically, have an equidistant gradation. This approach entices the viewer to follow the linear sense of the work, which ultimately conducts them back where they started. This forced “change” in viewpoint comes across as a sort of phase one must pass through, and interpreted here by means of an optical illusion: In a single image, MADE 514 attempts to capture the moment of transition between the two separate surfaces, juxtaposed at 90º angles by offering a sort of passageway opened up to us. And in doing so, crafting a wholly innovative change in perspective – which in turn, opens up into new scenes to take in and fathom. Even the color palette used here holds significant and specific meaning: – Aquamarine – Undeniably, Water as the utmost element / symbol of transformation– Yellow – Often associated with a positive attitude, especially when looking to tackle any problems and ultimately, overcome them– Deep purple – the color of both intuition and ambitionMade 514Made 514 was born in Padua and started out as a graffiti artist in the early 1990s. He got into writing while pursuing his painting career; experimenting with materials and techniques and basically imprinting his writing technique onto more conventional artistic expressions. The fantastical scenes he creates suggest an empathetic aesthetic that truly immerses the viewer into his artwork. The lettering alone reaches an unbelievable level of complexity, with each letter of his name infused with such dynamism they seemingly take flight, scattering about in a lusty mix of both oriental and psychedelic influences. Soft forms, strict lines, emotional emphasis, and highly dynamic movement – all juxtaposed within a geometric frame – one in which the letters abounding find space to encroach upon the figurative space: These are just some of the dominant features of MADE 514’s artistic style. The mashup between figures and letters, the frequent use of fiery tones and strong contrast, generate scenes revealing a very determined chromatic impact. Stretching across borders of two-dimensionality, they are a study in both depth and detached perspective of the walls. The insertion of figures by way of appendages and faces only serves to enhance the ultimate tension of the work.
