The first work we come to, entitled “Meta Loops” was inspired by the dual themes of CHANGE THROUGH INNOVATION and FUTURE CHANGE. The words alone represent the tensions permeating throughout the entire scene. Stylistically, Peeta regards the changing of one’s viewpoint as the impetus for transforming the form; it becomes a catalyst for whole new ways of seeing or interpreting the future. In artistic compositions, whether in painting, sculpture, or on walls, geometric forms take on their own physicality while interacting within the surrounding setting; in particular, aiming to instigate a dialogue within the structural and cultural confines, be it with actual architectural elements or not. Here we see through his anamorphic art, Peeta reconfiguring the dimensions of whatever space he occupies. He provokes through his art a “temporary interruption of normality” – altering the perception of what may be otherwise familiar contexts by ushering in a whole different conception of the spaces, and in doing so, of reality itself. Metaphorically speaking, he intends to neutralize any preconceptions and thereby elicit the emergence of new perspectives. PeetaManuel di Rita, known as Peeta –considered one of the world’s foremost urban artists. Raised outside Venice, he first came onto the scene at the start of the 1990s, one of the up-and-coming Italian writers. His work continued to evolve, ultimately arriving at a style which draws on both sculpture and industrial design. To this mix, he added his own trademark three-dimensional painting style populated with anamorphic figures. Born and raised as a graffiti writer, today Peeta plies his trade as a multi-disciplinary artist, applying his raw talent to painting, sculpture and murals alike. A member of the EAD crew based in Padua and the FX and RWK crews in New York, Peeta’s works have over the years brought him well beyond Italy’s borders – with works shown in festivals and exhibitions worldwide, stretching across all continents. Observing Peeta’s work, you can see it is primarily focused on the transformation of the perception of forms into a dialogue reverberating between mass and void, between reality and fiction.
